Valencia is a great location to undergo refit work. There are several large secure marinas and a number of boat yards, all offering more competitive prices, and more flexibility than those in high demand locations.

The advantage of employing an independent project manager instead of dealing with the yard directly is that of having someone with an overview of the project, to be able to offer alternatives and to compare and negotiate prices. Then to supervise the work being done, to objectively control the standards, and ensure that the work is done according to the time schedule and budget.
In larger vessels this responsibility to represent the owners’ interests is often fulfilled by the captain, though even then it is not unusual to have an independent project manager who is familiar with the boat yard and local trade professionals.
